How To Add A Friend On Cash App

You can easily add people on the Cash App — the peer-to-peer payment app by Square that allows you to send and receive money.
If you want to send money to someone who isn't on the app, you're in for a treat because the Cash App will give you $5 for referring someone who uses the app to send $5 or more with a linked debit card within 14 days.

The Cash App, by Square, is a peer-to-peer payment app, like Venmo, that allows you to send and receive money with others on the app.

However, that is the key — you can only exchange money with people who already have the Cash App downloaded. If you want to pay someone who doesn't have the app, they'll have to download it and create an account first.

The good news is that this is fast and easy — creating a Cash App account only takes a couple of minutes — and if the person has a bank account with a major provider, the app will verify the account instantly, so your friend can send or receive money right away.

The even better news is that the Cash App will also give you money for referring people. You'll earn $5 if the person you refer downloads the Cash App using the referral code you sent them and then sends someone else $5 or more with a linked debit card within 14 days.

With that in mind, it would be foolish not to add people on the Cash App. Here's how you do it on your iPhone or Android.

How to add people on the Cash App

1. Open the Cash App on your iPhone or Android.

2. Tap the Account icon, which looks like a person in a circle, in the top-right corner of your screen.

3. Underneath your name and $Cashtag, you'll see a button with "Invite Friends, Get $5" written on it in green. Tap it.

4. In the pop-up screen, you can either manually enter a name, phone number, or email in your contacts list or you can scroll through your contacts and tap on any contact that you want to invite. Anyone who already has an account will have "USES CASH APP" next to their name in green.

5. Once you add a person to your list of invites, a check mark will appear next to their name. When you have selected all of the people that you want to invite, tap the "Invite" button in the top-right corner.

Tap the names of the people you want to invite, then tap "Invite."

6. Once you do that, a text message will appear on your phone with generic text that includes your unique referral code. Edit the text if you'd like, then press the "Send" button.
